SitePreferences

Foswiki's default preferences are located in System.DefaultPreferences, however settings defined here have override priority and should be used for local customisations.

Appearance

Customize logo and tooltip texts:

• Set WIKILOGOIMG =
• Set WIKILOGOALT = Wiki site for Columbia University Nevis Labs particle physics
• Set WIKILOGOURL = /bin/view/Main/WebHome

Give your site a specific name:

• Set WIKITOOLNAME = Foswiki

Customize your favicon:

• Set FAVICON = https://foswiki.nevis.columbia.edu/pub/Main/Logos/favicon.ico

Customize your top bar background image and color

• Set WEBHEADERART = /pub/System/PatternSkin/header5.gif
• Set WEBHEADERBGCOLOR = #ffffff

Nevis custom templates

The System/ManagingUsers topic has the details (though good luck trying to figure them out).

To create a custom template, go to the templates sub-directory and copy the template with a custom skin-name extension; here I use nevis:

cp registerapprove.tmpl registerapprove.nevis.tmpl

Make sure the new file is owned by apache.apache!

Then add that extension to the front of the list here:

• Set SKIN = nevis, natedit, pattern

Finalisation

FINALPREFERENCES locks site-level preferences that are not allowed to be overridden by WebPreferences or user preferences:
